New Tampa spots to follow: Muchachas, Grassroots Kava

Empamamas may be one of the best food spots in all of Tampa. The hearty empanadas being dished out of their Armature Works hub are sensational, filling, and affordable. Yep, they check all of the boxes. Now, the owners are working toward launching a sister concept called Hola Muchachas — and we cannot wait.

The restaurant recently featured a brand new mural painted by Leo Gomez, a prolific muralist responsible for St. Petersburg’s popular “Sunshine On My Mind” mural. A full menu, and opening timeline will soon be posted on their Instagram. Follow it for all the updates.

Kava cocktails coming to Seminole Heights

This isn’t the only addition to Tampa to have on your radar. St. Petersburg’s popular Grassroots Kava Bar will debut two new locations in the city of Tampa. One location will be in Ybor City and Seminole Heights.

Both are set to open to the public on October 30. Grassroots serves up Kava, Tidal Boar Ginger Beer, Mother Kombucha, Blind Tiger Coffee, and kava cocktails.

Ybor City location: 1925 E 6th Avenue

Seminole Heights location: 5248 N Florida Avenue

You can always give them a visit in the Sunshine City at 957 Central Avenue.

Artisanal chocolate shop opens near Curtis Hixon Park

At long last, Tampa’s anticipated Peterbrooke Chocolatier is open downtown.

In case you hadn’t heard, a Flan Factory is serving up amazing sweets in historic Ybor City.

Mark your calendars, because the International Cuban Sandwich Festival returns, but this year it will operate as a single-day drive thru festival.

If you’re making plans for winter, make sure Tampa’s massive new snow park is on your radar.
