Tampa Bay native explores space
Clearwater native and NASA legend Nicole Stott will share stories of her inspiring journey to space, her life as an astronaut and artist, and the pioneering role of female explorers during Women in Space on July 22 at the Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI).
I’m so excited to be in my hometown of Tampa Bay to talk about the women who helped inspire me to explore what’s ‘out there.’ There are so many great stories to share, and I’ll also be able to talk about my own experiences of what it’s like to go from being a little girl in Clearwater to someone who has been fortunate enough to experience the awe of our incredible home planet from space.
Stott spent three months living 220 miles above the earth aboard the International Space Station. Women In Space is the latest event in MOSI’s NASA Legends series, which brings NASA’s space pioneers to Tampa Bay.
Meet and greet with NASA legend
The Women in Space presentation runs from 2-4pm on July 22. Guests can also add-on a meet and greet with the astronaut from noon-1:30pm. A portion of the proceeds from the add-on ticket sales will benefit The Spacesuit Art Project.
Tickets for the presentation and the meet and greet are available online or by phone at 813.987.6000. The award-winning IMAX film A Beautiful Planet, which was filmed by Stott’s fellow astronauts on the International Space Station, is also part of the event.
