Muchachas, a new street taco spot, opening at Armature Works

Muchachas, a concept from the owner of Empamamas, is opening this November inside Armature Works in Tampa Heights. Empamamas is beloved for its hearty empanadas and sensational tacos. Now, the owners are pouring that same love into the vibrant Muchachas concept.

The restaurant recently featured a brand new mural painted by Leo Gomez, a prolific muralist responsible for St. Petersburg’s popular “Sunshine On My Mind” mural.

The concept will feature Mexican inspired cuisine such as street tacos, burritos, street corn, and the increasingly popular birria quesatacos, a dish that has been making big waves on social media and is sure to be a signature dish.

The vendor stall will join the lineup of 19 different dining options within Armature Works and will take the place of Pane Rustica Due, located just two stalls down from Empamamas. Swanz got her start with a food truck in 2016 and two years later opened Empamamas within Armature Works to great success. While the official open date has yet to be announced the concept location was unveiled yesterday.

A perfect partner to Empamamas

“The opportunity to open a second concept at Armature Works was too good to pass up” said Swanz. “I truly feel like Armature is the best location in town & I’ve always felt lucky to be a part of it. I’m very thankful to Chas Bruck and his team for trusting us with this new venture.”

The Muchachas team will be wrapping up hiring, stall build-out, and staff training over the next week and will be announcing an official open date soon. The cuisine at Muchachas will appeal to a different customer than the ones at Empamamas and will bring with it a new type of cuisine to the food hall.

“I have a sincere passion for entrepreneurship and while a new concept was not in my plans for 2020, it was exactly what I needed” added Swanz. “I’m looking forward to finally seeing this come to fruition, and to finish 2020 off strong.”
