Madison Avenue Pizza serves the biggest—and craziest—pizza in the Bay

ResortPass

If you’re a professional eater, or an active user of social media, you’ve probably already heard of Madison Avenue Pizza. With pies up to 32 inches, in flavors such as “Chik-fil-A” or the pickle-topped “Cuban,” this Dunedin hot spot is known for serving the biggest—and boldest—pizza in the Bay.

Today, we visited the Instagram-famous pizzeria for an inside look at some of its wildest offerings.

Pushing the “pizza limits”

“I like to push the limits on what is and isn’t pizza,” owner Sean Ferraro said as we perused his menu. “And what can be done with pizza.”

No stranger to the restaurant industry, Sean has worked in food service since the age of 12. From dish washing at his parents’ restaurants to later searing and sautéing in five diamond hotels, the entrepreneur is truly a “jack-of-all-trades” in the culinary realm. After a lifetime of serving others, however, he decided to start his own place.

“I knew I wanted to have a restaurant since I was a kid,” he said, “But five years ago, I just really got the itch to do my own thing. I love to create, so I wanted the opportunity to create things for myself.”

In 2017, he opened Madison Avenue Pizza.

The Bay’s most outrageous slices

From day one, Sean’s inventive, artistic spirit has guided the way he runs his restaurant. His passion for creativity is visible in many of his top-selling—and internet renowned—pizzas.

“Hands-down our two most popular pizzas are the ‘Chick-fil-A’ and the ‘Crab Rangoon,’” he said. “One’s got a Chik-fil-A Sauce base with waffle fries and nuggets, and the other has crab Rangoon filling, scallions and crispy wontons.”

Both of these pizzas, however, are weekly, rotating “specials.” Though the permanent menu offers some crazy pies, the most outrageous items are only available for fleeting moments. This model helps Sean satisfy his need for spontaneity and invention. To keep up with what Madison Avenue is serving each day, therefore, foodies should visit the spot’s Instagram or Facebook.

So, long story short: we can’t guarantee exactly what Sean will be cooking when you stop in. Through past examples—and our personal experience—however, we can give you a pretty good idea of what’s possible.

From the best-of-the-best of the permanent menu items, to the most memorable of the “weekly specials,” therefore, here are some of the wildest pies Madison Ave has put on the plate.
