La Casa Lyn, a family run bakery, brings big cinnamon rolls to Seminole Heights

Seminole Heights may be known as the MICHELIN section of Tampa. Both Rooster & The Till and Ichicoro Ramen received Bib Gourmand Awards just last week. Now, La Casa Lyn is serving up sweet cinnamon buns, gorgeous cupcakes, crave worthy breads, and so much more at 5214 N Nebraska Avenue.

The neighborhood itself is already replete with some of the best eats in the entire city of Tampa. Flocale, a pizza and wing concept from the mind behind King of the Coop and Westshore Pizza, just opened in the neighborhood. Wicked Oak BBQ, just down the block from Ichicoro, remains the BBQ standard bearer in Tampa. If you haven’t had the kimchi pancakes or experienced karaoke at Gangchu in Seminole Heights, we hope you change that ASAP. Don’t forget, Seminole Heights is also home to a recurring farmers market.

Back to La Casa Lyn. This family owned shop opened earlier in 2022 and is crafting mini bun mountains and stunning custom cakes on the regular. Their story starts with their mother’s traditional Dominican cake recipe, according to the owners. They write, “She taught us the recipe at an early age, creating countless memories spent in the kitchen together. The time spent bonding in the kitchen cultivated a love for making desserts and trying new recipes out for our family gatherings.”

La Casa Lyn is now sharing that deep rooted love for baking with the entire city of Tampa. More than just a bakery, the spaces serves up coffee and espresso drinks, natural juices, and array of hearty sandwiches to pair their decadent dessert case.

The sandwich that caught our eye is La Pechuga: baked chicken breast, baby spinach, Kalamata olives, shredded parmesan cheese with house garlic aioli spread. Diners can also grab a crucial breakfast sandwich when they visit. The list of desserts and treats varies from day to day. but you can always anticipate seeing cinnamon buns behind the counter.
