Humane Society begins construction on new animal shelter


Soon, the Humane Society of Tampa Bay will be able to help more homeless and hurt animals in need courtesy of their new shelter. The nonprofit announced on Facebook that construction had officially begun on the site at 3607 North Armenia Avenue.

Humane Society’s current shelter is nearly 60 years old. The new shelter is set to include puppy and kitten nurseries for underage litters, an isolation area for sick animals to reduce spread of disease, expanded medical & surgical suites and climate control in all areas.

Close to reaching fundraising goal

They’re currently in the homestretch of their fundraising efforts to bring the shelter to life. The nonprofit needs a little over $500,000 to reach their goal. Locals who want to help make the shelter a reality can learn more about the facility and how to donate on The Humane Society’s website.

For more than 100 years, The Humane Society has worked to end animal homelessness in Tampa Bay. They offer pet grooming, dog obedience training, veterinary services and more to help these animals lead the best possible lives they can.
