Honeymoon Island is regarded as one of the best beaches in Florida, the country, and the world. Its access to the Caladesi Island ferry also makes its must visit destination. On October 22 and 23 the beach will host its first annual fall festival. The celebration will be oriented toward families.

Get ready to experience Oasis Beach. This new annual family-oriented festival features outdoor recreational activities, an arts market, nature exhibits, food trucks, live music and more in a beachside setting, providing two days of fun for visitors of all ages.

Experience the beauty of Honeymoon Island

Birdwatchers will be in a proverbial paradise at the lush state park. Visitors can observe eagles, osprey and great horned owls above, while ground animals include gopher tortoises, raccoons and armadillos.

Honeymoon Island is also home to the Rotary Centennial Nature Center. This space helps visitors learn about the park’s history and natural resources. Swimming, fishing, shelling, hiking and bicycling are all popular activities that make Honeymoon Island State Park an ideal getaway.

Want to know how Honeymoon Island got its name? Clinton Washburn, prolific businessman, purchased the island in the 1930s. It’s said that during a dinner with the editor of Life magazine, Washburn rated the island would make a perfect getaway for lovebirds and honeymooners. The editor wound up using that in the story and the name just stuck.
