Bern’s Steakhouse is temporarily closed as the iconic steakhouse undergoes significant renovations. The last day of service before the summer closure was July 2, and renovations are set to last two-weeks. Three main focal points include the lounge, kitchen updates, and an expanded and upgraded staff break area. In the interim, you can enjoy Bern’s signature dishes at neighboring Haven (2208 W Morrison Ave).
“Bern’s is closed in July for a kitchen and lounge remodel, but you can still get your steakhouse “fix” at Haven,” writes the Bern’s ownership team on Instagram. “Enjoy our chefs’ creations inspired by the Bern’s menu. Selections also include cuts from Bern’s aging room, classic steak sauces, and wine selections hand-picked from Bern’s cellar. Finish your evening with desserts from the Harry Waugh Room pastry team.” Get a full preview of A Taste of Bern’s at Haven online.

Promoted items include a French onion risotto, rack of lamb, lobster mashed potatoes, and banana cheese pie. Wines such as 1992 Chateau Montrose Saint-Estephe, 1974 Concannon Petite Sirah, and a 2008 Domaine Rene Leclerc Gevery-Chambertin 1er Cru Lavaux St. Jacques will be available.
“Bern’s Steak House has always been an evolutionary restaurant, in the sense that it is constantly changing, from the aesthetics of the dining rooms and Harry Waugh Dessert Rooms to the menu, wine, and spirit offerings,” says David Laxer, owner, Bern’s Steak House. “My father, Bern, was constantly exploring ways to enhance the dining experience for guests, whether that be through new and different menu items or having a dining area just for desserts.”
