Hamilton Coming to Tampa

One of the most buzzed about, praised and awarded Broadway shows of all time is headed to the Straz Center! Hamilton, winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, is scheduled to arrive on the Straz Center stage during the 2018-2019 Bank of America Best of Broadway season.

Hamilton is the story of America’s Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, an immigrant from the West Indies who became George Washington’s right-hand man during the Revolutionary War and was the new nation’s first Treasury Secretary. Featuring a score that blends hip-hop, jazz, blues, rap, R&B and Broadway, HAMILTON is the story of America then, as told by America now.

The best way to guarantee tickets to Hamilton is to purchase a subscription for the 2017-2018 season. The Straz Center notes that subscribers who renew their subscription for the 2018-2019 season will be able to guarantee their tickets to the premiere Tampa engagement of Hamilton before tickets go on sale to the public.

Those excited for Hamilton’s arrival can whet their appetite with a special performance by Tony Award-winning performer Leslie Odom Jr. on June 23. Direct from his role as Aaron Burr in Broadway’s hottest hit, Hamilton, Odom, Jr. appears in this solo concert for one performance only. The artist will be showcasing songs from his self-titled album which dropped in the summer of 2016 to wild acclaim.
