Grow Financial’s “Grow On Us” campaign returns this April; the credit union will pick up the tab for locals at several restaurants and small businesses in Tampa and St. Petersburg.

Grow Financial Federal Credit Union is bringing back its popular Grow On Us campaign, a program where they pick up the tab for Tampa Bay locals at a number of small businesses.

Feeding the Tampa Bay community

“In the wake of COVID-19’s negative impacts to our local economy, the inaugural program, Grow On Us, took place from May through August of 2020,” wrote Grow Financial representatives in a release. The Grow On Us campaign was designed to stimulate Tampa Bay’s struggling businesses and offer some relief and joy to the people in the region. They worked with businesses such as Pacific Counter and Fabrica Pizza — and did indeed spark a lot of joy.

Mark your calendars because Grow On Us will begin again on Monday, April 19, and continue through the end of September, but this time with a homegrown twist.

Grow On Us business partners will be giving out Tampa-themed items ranging from Cuban sandwich pizza to strawberry guava popsicles with tabs open weekly at area small businesses.

Grow Financial is making plans to open tabs at around 25 small businesses throughout the Tampa Bay area for a grand total of $250,000 donated.

“Last year, we were able to give 12,713 gifts to the people of Tampa Bay, all while helping local small businesses keep their doors open,” Jared Barr, senior vice president of marketing at Grow Financial, said. “We’re excited to relaunch Grow On Us this year, and look forward to seeing what creative Tampa-centric items our business partners dream up.”

Supporting small businesses in their time of need

Membership with Grow Financial is not required to take advantage of an open tab. Anyone wanting to learn more about the next open tab should visit GrowOnUs.org, or follow Grow Financial on Facebook.

“Each time we host an open tab, we’re able to support not only the local business, but also the people of our community who get to enjoy it. Our mission is to serve people over profit, and this program allows us to fulfill that mission, all while celebrating Tampa Bay’s local community and culture,” Barr said.
