After years of serving up its famous burgers and pies, Goody Goody Burger in Hyde Park Village will close on September 29. The announcement came directly from the owners via Instagram, where they revealed their decision not to renew the lease. The restaurant is located at 1601 W Swann Avenue.

Beginning Tuesday, September 24, Goody Goody will operate from 9am to 6:30pm daily, offering a limited menu until its final day on Sunday, September 29. Richard Gonzmart, president and caretaker of the 1905 Family of Restaurants, shared heartfelt words about the closure. “The decision comes as we evolve and adapt to changing circumstances, focusing on new opportunities to serve our community. We cherish the memories and strong connections we’ve built here and look forward to celebrating these moments with you as we approach this transition,” Gonzmart said.

A Tampa legend reborn says goodbye

Reflecting on the restaurant’s legacy, he added, “We loved rekindling Goody Goody memories and creating new ones. Because I know people will ask, our company is in great shape. As much as I love Goody Goody, sometimes we must make business decisions with our head as well as our heart.”

Goody Goody is part of the 1905 Family of Restaurants, which also includes iconic Tampa Bay establishments like Columbia, Ulele, Casa Santo Stefano, and Cha Cha Coconuts. While the Hyde Park location will close, operations at Goody Goody’s Airside C location in Tampa International Airport will continue as usual. Open since 2017, the airport venue will keep serving travelers its classic offerings.

Fans of Goody Goody can also look forward to enjoying their favorite dishes at the Columbia Café at the Tampa Bay History Center on Water Street. Starting October 1, the café will feature beloved items such as the Burger P.O.X., Cheeseburger P.O.X., Hyde Park Burger, and Butterscotch Pie.
