“El Caballero de la Salsa” (The Gentleman of Salsa), Gilberto Santa Rosa, has been one of salsa’s most prolific and prominent artists since releasing his first album in 1986. He’s renowned both as a bandleader and a sonero, a salsa vocalist with improvisatory skills. In fact some of Santa Rosa’s off-the-cuff vocals have become so beloved by his fans, he’s had to permanently incorporate them into the song. He’s a six-time Grammy winner and is a national hero in Puerto Rico.
