Florida Wind Band Presents “Symphony of Voices”

May 18 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Free!

The Florida Wind Band presents a concert of works by some of the most acclaimed wind composers past and present. In this masterworks series concert, we will open with “Startin’ Sumthin”, composed by Jeff Scott for the Armani Winds and arranged and conducted by Dr. Trevor Butts for the Florida Wind Band. Featured on this concert will be the inaugural Bay Area Youth (BAY) Winds concerto competition winner, giving us the opportunity to showcase the talents of one of the best high school musicians in the area. Following will include master turn-of-the-century English composer, Ralph Vaughn Williams’ “Folksong Suite”, Percy Grainger’s “Children March”, and concluding with James Stephenson’s “Symphony No. 2, Voices”, a piece that won the two largest band composition contests in the county. This is a concert that will feature the power, sensitivity, and joy of the wind band, and we would be honored by your presence.
