Doechii won big at the Grammys, and the acclaimed “Swamp Princess” used that big platform to shine a major light on the city of Tampa.
“There’s so much culture in Tampa,” said Doechii while receiving her award. “Whenever people think about Florida they only think about, like, Miami, but Tampa has so much talent. Labels, go to Tampa. There’s talent there, OK?”

Tampa’s own Doechii enjoys a big moment at the Grammys
Doechii took home the Grammy for Best Rap Album for Alligator Bites Never Heal, making her only the third woman to win this category after Lauryn Hill and Cardi B.
Her 2021 breakout single “Yucky Blucky Fruitcake” showcased her playful yet confident persona. She soon signed to Top Dawg Entertainment, the same label that houses Kendrick Lamar, SZA, and Schoolboy Q. Throughout 2022 and 2023, Doechii’s versatility continued to shine with the release of singles like “What It Is (Block Boy)” and “Stressed,” which gained widespread attention for their infectious hooks and dynamic flow.
