Dio Modern Mediterranean replaces Paninoteca, could open in early 2019

For all those who have sorely missed the cafe delights of Paninoteca, there’s finally relief in sight. Dio Modern Mediterranean is revamping the space at 519 North Franklin Street with new furniture, a hip bar and a full brunch menu, while keeping some Paninoteca favorites available for longtime customers.

The official announcement came in November just before Thanksgiving. Since the initial announcement, owners have worked tirelessly to get the space ready for an official winter 2019 opening.

We hope the new restaurant keeps the Sangria Sunday tradition alive (those $5 pitchers were a sweet steal), and those super simple and totally delectable chicken pancetta paninis.

An official menu has not been reveal just yet, so you’ll have to follow Dio on Facebook and Instagram for official updates.

It will join concepts like Park & Rec and Gen X Tavern as exciting new restaurant debuts in the Tampa area.
