Delta adds 5 new nonstop flights to Miami from TPA

We LOVE the city of Tampa, but it’s always good to get out from time to time. Courtesy of Tampa International Airport, staycations don’t always have to mean hanging around the house. Instead, we take staycations to mean an opportunity to explore the Sunshine State. That’s about to get a whole lot easier in May with new nonstop flights between Tampa and Miami.

Time to vacation in Miami

Delta announced at the start of 2020 that it will be adding five daily nonstop flights to Miami, creating easier Latin America connections for TPA passengers with its partnering LATAM Airlines. The service, which will use the 76-seater Embraer ERJ-175, is also expected to also make one-stop flights to Europe more accessible via its partnering SkyTeam airlines such as Alitalia and Air France.

Delta announced the new Miami service as a larger effort to bolster its Miami network, adding 13 total nonstop flights to MIA from Orlando, Raleigh-Durham, Salt Lake City and Tampa. The increased service is part of the carrier’s developing partnership with LATAM, which Delta announced late last year.

Major expansion at TPA

“As our new industry-leading partnership with LATAM develops, this announcement broadens our footprint in south Florida to provide our customers with better connections between the U.S. and South America,” said Delta S.V.P. of Network Planning Joe Esposito. “With this expansion, we are now well positioned to provide superior service and a convenient network for customers connecting between our airlines as well as for travelers going to and from South Florida.”

All Access program goes daily

The good news keeps rolling in for Tampa International Airport. Earlier in January officials announced that the new TPA all access program would expand to daily tours.

The airport also crushed passenger records in 2019, and landed new routes direct London.
