Datz, the local restaurant famous for its massive sandwiches, Mac-and-Cheeseburger, homemade potato chips, and solid sign game, has opened a brand new cafe on the Riverwalk.
Here’s the announcement from the Tampa Convention Center:
“We’re excited to announce our Datz Riverwalk Cafe is OPEN, serving up Cuban coffee, breakfast sammies, AND even cocktails along The Tampa Riverwalk waterfront. Hours will be 7:30am – 11:30am Tuesdays thru Sundays. Stop by on your morning runs, walks, or bike rides!”
The menu features premium donuts and cinnamon buns. Cafe con leche and Cortadito coffee drinks are available at the cafe. If you want to add something spirited to your morning, you can order the Morning Margarita (tequila, Orange Liqueur, orange juice, lime).
A regular breakfast sandwich, and a vegan breakfast sandwich are also available.
This is incredible news for the Tampa Riverwalk itself, which currently serves as a premier connection between the acclaimed Armature Works food hall in Tampa Heights and the outdoor food and entertainment hub Sparkman Wharf.
The Tampa Convention Center is in the midst of a $38 million Capital Improvement Plan that is intended to provide a better customer experience, increased efficiency, and cost savings.
New waterfront meeting rooms are currently in development.
“Spanning 16,000 square feet, this two-level addition will provide 18 new meeting rooms overlooking the Hillsborough River,” according to the project’s site. The new waterfront rooms will be accompanied by a terrace offering expansive views and outdoor space. Demolition will be planned for non-event hours and construction walls will surround work areas to provide a sound barrier for noise elimination. The addition of a set of new restrooms and a second service elevator will advance facility operations and event needs.
The Tampa Convention Center’s newly renovated 360 degree outdoor Sail bar will offer unobstructed water views, along with a brand new Frozen Drinks Container Bar & art mural.
