Cousin Vinny’s, a New York-style deli, as operated as a pickup/delivery only business for several months in Tampa. The owners just announced that they’ll open their full brick and mortar deli in the old Cass Street Deli space at 1331 W Cass Street. An official opening date is still TBA.
This is a passion project for executive Chef and co-founder Vinny Andriotti, and Head of Operations and co-founder “Cuz” Russ Leone. You can see their full menu online. The offerings could expand once the deli is fully opened.

The Mambo Italian appears to be the show stealer. This behemoth is stacked with salami, prosciutto, eggplant cutlet, mozzarella, roasted red peppers, pesto, lettuce, tomato, onion, oil and vinegar. You could probably squeeze a couple of meals out of that signature sammie.
Cousin Vinny’s delivers massive NY Deli sandwiches in Tampa
Cousin Vinny’s offers up 8 different chicken cutlet options on the menu. These delicacies are topped with things such as Buffalo sauce, house made vodka sauce, crispy bacon, mozzarella and parmesan. A selection of salads, family style meals and Italian shredded beef (roast beasts) round out the menu. Catering options for large groups is also in the works.
The sandwich shop is described as a small conglomerate of like-minded entrepreneurs that were “brought together naturally through their Italian American heritage and deep roots in New York State,” writes the ownership team. “Our shared love for food, family, and camaraderie proves to be the appropriate synergy to be shared with others through the amazing culinary experience provided.”
Executive Chef Vinny’s passion for creating incredible dishes for family and friends quickly transitioned him into the world of private dining after University of Tampa. For over 6 years Vinny has been serving the most affluent communities in Tampa with private dining experiences – ranging from intimate settings to 30+ people.
8 different chicken cutlets to choose from
In addition to his private dining experience, Vinny trained under five-time James Beard semifinalist, Jeannie Pierola at Edison Food + Drink Lab. Historically his focus is French cuisine with a spin of contemporary Italian American Fare, but now it’s bring the best damn sandwiches to Tampa Bay.
