Comedy Legend John Cleese Coming to Tampa

Another day, another major show announcement for Tampa. Living comedy legend and Monty Python co-founder, John Cleese, is heading to the Straz Center for a live evening of conversation and audience Q&A. Prior to Cleese’s appearance on stage, Straz will show Monty Python and the Holy Grail in full on the big screen.

Come armored with absurd and ridiculous questions and learn about the artistic journey of Cleese, who has ascended to comedy royalty. Tickets go on sale to the public Friday, June 9 at 10am online, and noon by phone/in person at the box office. Regular tickets range from $69-$110. VIP tickets are available for $250. The event takes place on November 2 at 7:30pm.

Audiences best know Cleese for his work on the hit TV show Monty Python’s Flying Circus, which ran from 1969-1973, and Fawlty Towers. Cleese and the Monty Python comedy troupe also created several cult classics including Life of Brian and The Meaning of Life.

Cleese was nominated for an Oscar in 1989 for Best Writing for the film A Fish Called Wanda. The actor has appeared in major franchise hits like Harry Potter and 007, as well as The Jungle Book, Rat Race, Pinocchio and The Day the Earth Stood Still.
