Thin, crispy crusts, super melty cheese, and a tower of protein glistening with flavor on top: it’s the quintessential slice at Champion Pizza. The NY-based pizza shop has taken over the old Ichicoro location at 5229 N Florida Avenue.
This shop is famous for its Buffalo Chicken Pizza with ranch and mozz, as well as its truffle mushroom and pest chicken pies. Champion takes controversy a step further with its square cut. bacon and pineapple pizza with homemade marinara and mozz.

No pizza spot is complete without wings, and Champion offers fried sweet and spicy chicken wings, plus cakes by the slice, and addictive mozzarella sticks.
“We offer grandma’s pizzas, or the square pizzas,” writes the Champion ownership team. “The crunchy thin crust, along with our carefully selected toppings, is one of the reasons that we have so many repeaters who visit Champion pizza every day.”
Owner Hakki Akdeniz has grown this restaurant from one hub in NYC to well over a dozen across New York. Tampa is Champion’s first location in the state of Florida, but we wouldn’t be surprised to see it expand further in the Sunshine State.
