Ben Folds, Demetri Martin Announce Shows in Tampa

Music and comedy icons continue to flock to the Straz Center stage. Multiple platinum selling, singer/composer/producer Ben Folds will make a stop at the entertainment center this November.

Write your favorite songs on paper airplanes

What initially began as a request for songs as encores in his shows, has now become a central element for many of Folds solo shows when, as he begins the second half of his concert performances, he cues the audience to launch their song requests toward the stage via paper airplanes.

The first time I brought up paper airplane requests was when I tweeted before a show: ‘If you have a song you want me to play, then write it down on a piece of paper and launch it as a paper airplane after I give the countdown.’ The response was incredible, with waves of paper airplanes flying from the audience on to the stage right on cue.
