Tampa takes its craft beer seriously. Over the last several years, new breweries have added extra flavor to the city. Ulele, 81Bay, Cigar City Brewing, Angry Chair and other spots drive job growth and tourism in Tampa.
More than 150,000 jobs created in 2016
The numbers don’t lie. National Beer Wholesalers Association and the Beer Institute released an economic impact report that shows how the industry continues to benefit in the state. In 2016, 160,706 jobs were created. These include jobs in brewing, wholesaling, retailing, agriculture and manufacturing.
Breweries and suppliers contributed $6,717,929,200 in wages and a total $21,687,036,200 in overall impact. While our craft beer scene is well-established, new entrepreneurs are looking to leave their mark. Recently, Rock Brothers Brewing set up shop in Ybor City and 7th Sun Brewing will soon expand to Seminole Heights (6809 North Nebraska Avenue).
Ybor adds another brewery to its bustling Centro area
Ybor’s burgeoning E 7th Avenue will soon get another brewery, Zydeco Brew Werks, which will also include a New Orleans-inspired restaurant and a wraparound patio on the second floor.
