Bars can reopen at 50% capacity in Florida next week. Will you go for a drink?

Florida bars can reopen effective Monday, September 14. The state made the announcement late on September 10. Bars will once again be allowed to invite patrons in and operate at 50% capacity.

The usual mandates will remain in place including social distancing and wearing a mask when you’re not seated.

Some bars have managed to reopen prior to this announcement by incorporating food into their repertoire.

Beginning Monday, September 14, bars may resume sales and service of alcoholic beverages for consumption on the premises in accordance with the operating parameters for Phase 2 of Florida’s Plan for Recovery as established in Executive Order 20-139.

St. Pete Mayor Rick Kriseman tweeted his support for the order.

Prior to this, bars were allowed to sell cocktails and drinks in sealed containers to-go. Officials hope residents will act responsibly.
