I couldn’t be more excited to write that next week the community can see the 1990s classic film Hook on the lawn outside Armature Works. This free, family-friendly event is set for Wednesday, January 24, at 6:30pm at 1910 N Ola Avenue.
Hook is the story of a grown-up Peter Pan played to perfection by the late Robin Williams. This Steven Spielberg-directed triumph features vibrant sets, some fun fight choreography, and an unforgettable character in Rufio. If you couldn’t tell, I’m exceedingly nostalgic for this film. As a kid, I loved Hook so much that I would make my dad beat the SNES adaption of the film almost every afternoon after I got out of pre-school.

The basics: a vengful Captain Hook kidnaps the children of a now grown up Peter Pan. Peter joins up with Tinker Bell and the Lost Boys to bring back his memory so he can once again don his “smashing green tights,” and have one last battle with Captain Hook.
Enjoy a trip to Neverland at Armature Works
The film also stars the perfect Maggie Smith, a mischievous Julia Roberts, the fabulous and late Bob Hoskins, a regal Dustin Hoffman, and even a hidden cameo from Glenn Close. Listen, it may not be a 5-star film objectively, but for anyone who grew up with this imaginative flick, it’s an absolute blast to experience.
You can learn more about the event on the official Eventbrite page. Bring lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy this free outdoor showing. Enjoy food and drinks from any of the vendors within Heights Public Market.
Outside food, beverage, and coolers are prohibited. Please note that our Movie on the Lawn series is first come, first serve and early arrival is suggested.
