A unique, new hotel is opening up along Kennedy Boulevard in the Westshore area, The Hotel Alba. The hotel is part of the Hilton’s Tapestry Collection consisting of lifestyle hotels meant to highlight local culture.

In this case, the new hotel will be an homage to Tampa’s history specifically Ybor City. “Alba” or sunrise is a reference to the new day and unique diversity brought to the area by the booming cigar industry.

A cozy boutique hotel with grand features

With 222 hand-designed rooms, The Hotel Alba has gone through a multi-million dollar renovation that includes total refreshes of the entire property like the new pool bar along with hardwood and industrial aesthetics that create a comfortable and modern atmosphere.

A new rotating art gallery has been installed with works from alumni of the Savannah College of Art and Design.  There is also an Instagraworthy “living wall”along with other great hideaways and nooks for picture-snapping.

New restaurant and menu

Buffalo Bayou Coffee House will serve locally roasted beans and The Spaniard, the signature house restaurant run by Executive Chef Brian Agoncillo, will feature fresh and local ingredients along with open-air dining. The menu boasts some cocktails like “Ybor’s Legacy,” a fusion of smoked local vanilla pipe tobacco, Michter’s, Pernod and bitters. Plus, for food, the menu has some classic items you see around Tampa like mojo marinated pork and ropa vieja.

There are also some great small plate options such as pork empanada, mussels and chorizo, grilled octopus and oxtail with white beans, leeks and sweet potatoes. If this was not enough for you tapas lovers, they also offer an extensive charcuterie menu as well.

The Hotel Alba will be opening in June and through Hilton the cost per night ranged from $160 and up.
