Visit Florida recently put us in the 2D cafe mood with their feature on Twenty Pho Hour in Orlando. The ready 2D cafe concept lets guests feel like they’re entering a classic storybook. It looks like the viral trend is set to arrive this year in the Tampa Bay region at 2105 Central Avenue in St. Petersburg. Called “2D Cafe,” this hand drawn concept is teasing European delicacies, sensational coffee, and an atmosphere that lets you be the art.

The story was first reported by our friends at I Love the ‘Burg.

The interior will be drawn up by prolific Tampa Bay muralist Chad Mize. Owner Maria Merello plans to have the cafe open by the end of February or early March 2022.

The interior of these popular concepts use clever tricks to fool your eyes. The décor seems to be entirely monochrome, with white floors, tables, and chairs. The black lines around the edges of the furnishings help you decipher what is flat and what is not.

This seems like a spot well worth the trip to St. Pete. Now we just need one to open in the city of Tampa.
