Tampa’s legendary Alessi Bakery marks a monumental milestone, celebrating its 112th anniversary with a day of delicious nostalgia. On Sunday, September 29, from 9am to 4pm, Alessi invites the community to enjoy rollback prices on their most popular items, like their iconic Cuban sandwiches, rich Boston Cream Cake, and savory Scachatta. Pastries start at just $.69 and the tasty Cuban sandwich will cost just $7.99. As a special thank you to their loyal customers, anyone who stops by will be entered into a raffle for a chance to win a $150 gift basket brimming with Alessi goodies.

Beyond the festivities, this celebration also highlights the bakery’s exciting plans for the future. As Alessi prepares to move to a new, upgraded location, they remain deeply rooted in the values that have kept them a beloved institution for over a century. The new space will ensure Alessi continues to be a cornerstone of Tampa’s culinary culture for many more years to come.

A local sweet tradition since 1912

Founded by Nicolo Alessi in 1912, this family-owned business began humbly on Cherry Street after Nicolo immigrated from Italy. He brought with him a deep knowledge of European baking traditions, setting the foundation for a bakery that would become a cherished Tampa staple. Over the last four generations, the Alessi family has perfected their recipe for success through a commitment to quality, consistency, and exceptional customer service. Their dedication has made Alessi Bakery a household name across the Tampa Bay area, known for its exquisite wedding cakes, catering, and signature baked goods.

If you’re new to Alessi’s delights, make sure to grab a guava and cheese turnover — a local favorite that keeps customers coming back for more.

Expansion plans in the works for Alessi

Alessi Bakery’s anniversary celebration takes place at 2909 W Cypress St., where generations of Tampa families have created sweet memories. Whether you’re a longtime fan or a first-time visitor, this is the perfect opportunity to indulge in a taste of Tampa’s history.

A major expansion is in the works for the bakery.  According to Alessi, it’s time for a change. Though not a drastic one. Alessi will move less than two blocks aways to the larger spot inside the old Letter Carrier Building (3003 W Cypress Street).

The move should be finalized by December 2024. Alessia will remain open in its current location for the duration of that time.

New food and drink offerings in the works

In an interview with WFLA, Alessi Jr also stated this new location will allow them to expand their food and drink offerings. This new, modernized location could include wood-stone ovens for pizza, a big coffee bar, rotisserie chickens, and a full liquor bar. Nothing like a guava and cheese pastry paired with a craft cocktail.
