Busch Gardens Tampa Bay Announces Birth of Southern White Rhino Calf

Move over, Moo Deng, a new star is born. Busch Gardens Tampa Bay has welcomed a new female southern white rhino calf to its herd. Weighing in at approximately 100 pounds, the calf was born to the experienced mother, Kisiri. She will soon join the park’s diverse array of African wildlife, which includes zebras, ostriches, giraffes, and various species of antelope, all residing in the expansive 65-acre Serengeti Plain.

To celebrate the arrival of this adorable calf, Busch Gardens invites rhino enthusiasts to participate in a limited-time online poll to choose her name. The options, inspired by the Swahili language, include Azizi, meaning “precious treasure”; Zahara, meaning “flower”; and Zina, translating to “secret” or “beautiful.” The poll is open now and will close on September 28, 2024. The winning name will be revealed on the park’s social media channels.
