Labyrinth, one of that fertile ‘80s crop of family-friendly fantasy films, has captivated more than one generation with its story of a girl (the teenaged Jennifer Connelly) who sets out to save her baby brother from the clutches of the beguiling Jareth the Goblin King (a deliciously glam David Bowie). It’s filled with lively, charming puppet creations from the Henson company, and incredible, ear-worm-y original music written and performed by the Goblin King himself.
But what’s in doing in Sing-Along September? Sure, the songs are great, but you’d be hard pressed to call it a musical. Well, Tampa Theatre is proud to present the Labyrinth Quote-Along, which takes all of that magic and explodes it right off the screen and into the auditorium for an unforgettable interactive celebration that’ll have you singing, quoting, and dance-magic-dancing all night long. With animated subtitles on screen for all best lines of dialogue and every song lyric, the whole theatre can belt along with Bowie … and shout out “You have no power over me!” at just the right moment. And if you’re really feeling it, come in costume as your favorite dream princess or beast from beyond all nightmares!
This screening is held in the Historic Duncan Auditorium. This space utilizes open seating for this event; seat selection is not required.
