The legendary Cacciatore and Sons Italian Market and Deli has operated in the Tampa area for more than 125 years. Their arrival in the region was more than a century in the making. In 1896, the Cacciatore family came to the United States from Italy “in search of the American dream,” note the owners. They originally settled in Ybor City and opened a butcher shop that provided groceries and other household items. The Cacciatore family catered to the immigrants that lived in this industrial town that consisted mainly of Cubans, Italians, and Spaniards.
“It is our mission to continue the tradition of original flavors and quality foods for generations to come,” writes Mark Cacciatore who’s run the market since 1964. The business operates with the mantra ”Entri come Amici vada come Famiglia” which translates to “Enter as friends, leave as family!”

Cacciatore and Sons serves up authentic Italian sausage
This space is famous for its homemade Italian sausages. The Sicilian recipe has been passed down from generations. “We kept everything original just like our Great Grandfather taught us,” writes Cacciatore. “Our sausage is made everyday in house and it is one of the main reasons we are still in business today.” You can savor that tradition in 5 different flavors: Regular, Chicken, Hot, Special, and Breakfast Sausage.
Their deli offerings include classic Muffuletta, meatball subs, a Palomilla steak sandwich, and chicken park. Like any Tampa institution, the Cacciatore family has perfected their own Cuban sandwich formula. Their deli keeps the sandwich traditional with sliced ham, pork, salami and Swiss.

Homemade lasagna, baked ziti, Nana’s eggplant parm, and more traditional Italian favorites are on the deli menu to warm your heart. There’s always a fiery debate about where to get the best deviled crab in the Tampa area. Cacciatore and Sons are hand rolling their daily. The always fresh delicacy is made with 100% Blue Crab. “Only a thin crispy layer of breading stands between you and the best damn devil crab you have ever bit into,” writes Cacciatore.
Hundreds of exquisite wines, and a gourmet array of cheeses are featured in its oh so savory market. They have a selection of imported wines from Spain, Chile, Argentina, and Sicily. Each is thoughtfully chosen by Phillip Cacciatore with the intention of complimenting their dishes made in house.
The Italian Deli is located at 3614 N Armenia Avenue. It’s open 9am-5pm Monday through Saturday, and catering is also available.
