The SeaTREK experience is open to the public, but you must make a reservation in advance

The Florida Aquarium is a gem in the city of Tampa. In addition to providing invaluable educational experiences for kids and adults, and serving as a hub fro research and conservation, the aquarium is also just an incredibly fun place to visit. They now offer underwater walking tours. This is not a drill. You can enjoy 20 minutes walking inside the Aquarium’s 100,000-gallon Heart of the Sea exhibit. It requires no swimming experience or specialized skills and allows guests to experience a diverse variety of colorful species.

Fair warning: I did not want to leave after my visit, and I fully intend to take the tour again. Designed for non-divers 10 years of age or older, SeaTREK takes place in the 15-foot deep Heart of the Sea habitat where participants can explore coral caves alongside hundreds of fish, spotted eagle rays, bonnethead sharks, and a loggerhead sea turtle! With no swimming involved, this exciting underwater opportunity allows people from all walks of life – even those not well acquainted with water – access to the wonders of the aquatic world.

I watch as Sheldon the Sea Turtle curiously watched visitors at the aquarium. The skilled diving team also taught those on the underwater walking tour how to make transfixing bubble rings.

Bring a swimsuit, towel, and shower items. All underwater gear will be provided, including a wetsuit. Locker rooms with showers will be available before and after your program. Lockers are also available to store your personal items.

Want to participate in the experience? Reserve your SeaTREK time online. The best part is aquarium admission is included with your SeaTREK ticket. So get in the tank and then after explore the entire aquarium with friends and family.
