Showstoppers at Straz Center (All Weekend)

Varekai: Tales Of the Forest at Amalie Arena (All Weekend) 

A dormant volcano, a mystical forest and an ancient prophecy… the adventure of Icarus begins when Varekai, Cirque du Soleil’s latest arena touring production, descends from the sky and into the Amalie Arena, for eight performances only – August 5 – 9, 2015! Chris Staples at Crowbar

Chris Staples is a singer and songwriter from Pensacola, Florida, currently the frontman and main musician for Discover America. He will perform live at Crowbar beginning at 8pm. Tickets are $10. Crowbar, 1812 17th Street North. 

 

Full Impact Pro Wrestling at The Orpheum

Enjoy a night of high octane entertainment at the Orpheum. Stars of wrestling's indie promotions will be out to entertain and wow the audience. Begins at 9pm. Tickets between $15 and $25. The Orpheum, 1915 East 7th Avenue in Ybor. 

 

Legendary JC's with Seratonic at Skipper's Smokehouse

It all started with some sharkskin suits and Otis Redding tunes more than nine years ago. The Legendary JC’s (commonly The Joint Chiefs) started flooring Central Florida crowds with their brand of soulful rocking blues in 2000. The JC’s have performed headlining slots at three consecutive years worth of NOLA Jazz Fest late-nights, Florida Music Festival and Macon’s Bragg Jam. They have also headlined: a month at Monte Carlo Casino – Las Vegas, Tropical Heatwave in Tampa, Milledgeville BBQ Fest, Crawfish Fest in Tallahassee, Wingfest in Hilton Head,N.C., Palatka Blue Crab Festival. Pete Correale at Side Splitters Comedy Club (All Weekend)

The hilarious Pete Correale will be performing live at Side Splitters Comedy Club. Correale's comedy career has seen him as a guest on the Tonight Show and The Late Show along with specials on Comedy Central. He'll be performing at 8pm and 10:15pm on Friday and Saturday. 7pm on Sunday. Tickets betwen $16-$18.50. Side Splitters Comedy Club, 12938 North Dale Mabry Highway. 

 

2nd Annual Hidden Paradise Caribbean Soiree at Jackson's Bistro

The much anticipated quintessential summer all-white chic attire party, "Hidden Paradise" is here again at Jackson’s Bistro – Downtown Tampa’s most exclusive seaside venue! Back To School Bash at Skatepark of Tampa

The Cheaters at Skipper's Smokehouse 

The Cheaters is a new group made up of members from two very popular local bands, Halcyon & Someday Souvenir. Steph Callahan, Tonya Floyd, Sandi Grecco, Chrissy DeRado,and Stephanie Wood have come together to form a powerful all star cover band that is quickly gaining momentum throughout the Southeast. Expect to hear fun, current, pop and rock songs performed by 5 mega talented ladies! Begins at 8pm. $7. Skipper's Smokehouse, 910 Skipper Road.  

 

Chris Hardwick FUNCOMFORTABLE Tour at Straz Center

CEO of Nerdist Industries, television personality (currently AMC’s Talking Dead, Comedy Central’s @Midnight), Wired contributor, musician, actor and stand-up, Chris Hardwick is hitting the road for a limited 14-city spring tour. With more than 900,000 subscribers to his YouTube channel, 2.3 million Twitter fans and a podcast with 5 million monthly downloads, Chris is one of the funniest and most influential faces in nerd culture today. 8pm. Under The Willow with Uproot Hootenanny 

In Under the Willow we find a band where socially conscious lyrics are blended with jubilant compositions to evoke a brand of songwriting that borrows from bluegrass and folk music but is wholly unique. Erin Donovan’s vocals and ravenous fiddle playing is supported by a superb cast of multi-instrumentalist. Hayley Skreens, Patrick Donovan and Joe Lego trade their tools amongst each other, each equally proficient on guitar, mandolin or banjo. 5pm. $7 in advance, $10 at the door. Sylvia at Stageworks Theatre

 In this comedy, empty nesters Greg and Kate put their marriage to the test when Greg brings home Sylvia, a street smart lab/poodle mix. The performance will run through August 30. Sunday's show begins at 3pm. Tickets are $30. Stageworks Theatre, 1120 East Kennedy Boulevard.
