Tampa One of the Hottest Cities for Tech Jobs

Job search site ZipRecruiter analyzed its database of more than 8 million jobs, and ranked the 20 fastest-growing tech markets based on year over year data. TIME staff writer Kristen Bahler notes that Tampa is in the mix of surprising cities on the rise.

“The tech industry is no longer bound to the coast . . . As a result, we’re seeing the tech industry expand out of the major metropolis areas, and into smaller regional cities that have since flown largely under the radar.”

Three Florida cities make the list

Florida is well represented on the list that is mostly dominated by cities in the Midwest. Jacksonville and Orlando join Tampa as noted hubs for job creation and innovation. Tax breaks in the state of Florida continue to provide plenty of allure to the Sunshine State and its major cities.

According to ZipRecruiter, the top tech jobs in Tampa are Project Manager, Systems Administrator, Project Coordinator, Data Analyst and Network Engineer. Tampa experienced an 80.9% growth in tech jobs year over year.

Strong earning potential, growth noted in Tampa

The site shows the median rent in Tampa to be $1,495 and the median home price to be $202,750. Early career median income is $52,700, and mid career median pay is $90.600. You can view the full list on TIME’s website.

Incubators such as Tampa Bay Wave remain havens for startups and entrepreneurs just getting to know the area. Jeff Vinik’s multi-billion dollar vision for the Channelside District is also helping bring job creators to Tampa.

Tampa International Airport‘s bevy of nonstop routes to the Bay area and other tech behemoths has assisted in putting our city on the radar for businesses looking to relocate.
