Sunset Celebration Series Returns to Lowry Park Zoo

Lowry Park Zoo is a proverbial wonderland. It’s the place where education and entertainment intermingle. During the hot summer months, the zoo offers residents the chance to experience their facilities, and engage with the zoo’s eclectic residents as the sun sets.

Snack on key lime pops and funnel cake fries

Sunset Celebrations take place every Friday and Saturday, from 4-10pm, June 23 through July 29. The celebrations include a tasty assortment of dishes made by the zoo’s executive chef. Frozen key lime pops to funnel cake fries will be served. BBQ, Latin favorites and All-American staples are sure to satisfy all appetites and preferences. Craft beer, wine, Coca-Cola products and frozen drinks will be available, as well.

Guests are invited to explore Lowry Park Zoo’s Dinos Alive! exhibit after dark. There will also be special animal mingles; attendees can experience an orangutan encounter, say goodnight to the penguins, and enjoy a closer look at the zoo’s rhinos.

Live music, rhino encounters and a wild lights finale

Salsa dancers, a steel drum band, an interactive DJ, African drummers, stilt walkers and an immersive Wild Lights Finale offer comprehensive entertainment all night. Popular local musicians will perform live. Artists include Rory Ellis, Funktastic Soul, The Black Honkeys, C’Nergy, Soul Circus Cowboys, GW Souther and Frequency.

Zoo tickets after 4pm are $22.95 for adults and children (3-11). Lowry Park members enjoy free admission. For full details on the event, membership, and to purchase your tickets for the day, evening or both, visit the official Sunset Celebration website.
