TPA boasts 3.8 million passengers in March and April

The Tampa International Airport is a lightning rod for good news. On May 15, the airport announced that between March and April, 3.8 million passengers passed through its terminals. The previous record was set in 2007.

The increase in passengers could be due to the airports glowing national reputation. An enhanced restaurant and retail selection throughout its terminals coupled with new nonstop routes to premier cities in the US and abroad could account for the influx of travelers.

Airport begins development of 17-acre commercial area

These numbers bode well for Tampa’s economic future. TPA’s stature as a go-to travel hub further exposes to Tampa to potential investors, developers and startups looking for a destination to grow their concept.

This news follows the beginning of Phase II of the airport’s master plan. This involves the development of a 17-acre commercial area around the newly built consolidated rental car center.
