Local Brewery Hosts Buzzed Spelling Bee and Back to School Drive

It’s back to school season. 81Bay Brewery is partnering with Simply Stated Media to help get local students the supplies they need for the coming academic year. The partnership will assist the wonderful organization Metropolitan Ministries, which provides backpacks, uniforms, basic supplies to more than 250 children annually.

On August 3, 81Bay will host a Back Pack to School Drive to collect items students need most for the coming school year. Visitors can bring a school supply donation, or a $20 cash donation. Can’t make it? There’s also a Facebook fundraiser running now with a $1,000 goal.

Prizes, raffles and games for a good cause

Vamos Gourmet Tampa Food Truck will also be there offering free freshly fried chips and handmade pico de gallo with every order of $6.50 or more. Adults can put their brains to the test with a buzzed spelling bee.

Registration for the spelling bee begins at 6:30pm on August 3, and the buzzed spelling bee begins at 8pm. The top winners receive prizes from 81Bay. A raffle will begin at 9pm. Sponsors for the event include Tampa Bay Lightning, Ford’s Garage, Bonefish Grill, Loving Life Therapy, Yoga Loft, Skyline Limo, Brew Bus Brewing, Chelsea Bond Jewelry and Infinity Eye Care Center.
