Lector Literary Wine Bar combines Tampa’s love a fine spirit with our community’s dedication to the arts community. Once open, the social club will offer literary events, natural wines, live music and space for community events in Tampa Heights.
Tampa Heights adds literary wine bar
The name Lector is inspired by Tampa’s historical lineage of los lectores, the readers, from the 19th century cigar factory days.
Lectores read the daily newspapers in multiple languages, recited poetry and great works of literature, as well as, comical dramas while factory workers quietly rolled cigars.
Described as both a listening room and wine bar, Lector is prepared to host groundbreaking author readings, open mic nights and natural wine tasting classes. Residents will have the opportunity to sample the wines at Lector while enjoying a taste of poetic culture on Saturday, May 20.
Acclaimed poet set to read during preview
Morgan Parker, author of the critically acclaimed poetry collection, There Are More Beautiful Things Than Beyonce, will read during the special preview of Lector Social Club. Parker is the recipient of a 2017 National Endowment of the Arts Literature Fellowship. The Lit-Bar Pop-Up begins at 8pm and is in partnership with the Oxford Exchange.
Lector, Florida’s first natural literary wine bar, is located at 2307 North Florida Avenue. The space is hard to miss. The prolific crew at Pep Rally, Inc. add a gorgeous mural to the spaces exterior a few months ago.
