Gold Cup Brings US Men’s National Team to Tampa

Tampa continues to flourish as major events destination. The Super Bowl, the NHL All-Star game and more massive sporting events plan to make Tampa its host city. The area’s soccer fandom is boundless with regional support for the Tampa Bay Rowdies — currently making a bid to join Major League Soccer.

This week, the city will be brimming with futbol fever when the Gold Cup arrives at Raymond James Stadium.

US Men’s National Team arrives in Tampa

The CONCACAF Gold Cup is the official national team championship of the region, which will crown the best of North America, Central America and the Caribbean.

Tampa was one of fourteen cities selected across the country to host the tournament, which includes the Rose Bowl in Los Angeles, the AT&T Stadium in Dallas, the Alamodome in San Antonio and the Sports Authority Field in Denver.

On Wednesday, July 12, Panama will face Nicaragua and the US will face Martinique in Tampa. The first game begins at 6:30pm, the second begins at 9pm. Visit Raymond James’ website for tickets and full details.

The road to gold continues after Tampa

The US tied Panama 1-1 in their first match of the Gold Cup on July 8. Following their match against Martinique, the US will go on to face Nicaragua at the FirstEnergy Stadium in Cleveland on July 15,
